Mission Statement

At Maricle Martial Arts, our mission is to empower individuals through Taekwondo, fostering leadership, resilience, and lifelong friendships. We believe that true strength comes not only from physical skill but from the ability to overcome obstacles with determination and integrity.

Through disciplined training, we cultivate confidence, perseverance, and respect essential qualities of a leader both on and off the mat. Our supportive community encourages every student to push beyond their limits, embrace challenges, and uplift one another. Together, we build a foundation of lasting friendships, forged through shared struggles and victories.

At Maricle Martial Arts, we don’t just teach martial arts; we shape leaders, instill perseverance, and create bonds that last a lifetime.

Since 2016

My journey in Taekwondo began in January 2016 in Northwood, IA, where I trained under the late Mr. Lee Bird of the Alliance of Independent Taekwondo Schools. In August 2019, I proudly convinced my daughter, Bentleigh, to join me in training, and she continues to grow alongside me in this journey.

In March 2022, I earned the rank of probationary black belt. As Mr. Bird’s health declined due to cancer, I stepped in to lead the Northwood class on his behalf. In June 2022, I expanded our reach by launching a new class in Lake Mills, IA. Sadly, later that year, Mr. Bird passed away from cancer complications—a profound loss for our Taekwondo community.

In March 2023, I established a class in Albert Lea, MN, initially held at the Skyline Mall fitness center. Due to rapid growth, we relocated to the Albert Lea YMCA by June. That December, I completed my First Degree Black Belt exam and made the pivotal decision to form a new, independent school: Maricle Martial Arts.

Maricle Martial Arts officially launched in January 2024. With Mr. Bird’s passing, I sought continued mentorship under Master Randy Milhan of Kick USA Karate in Clear Lake, IA. As our school continued to grow, the need for a permanent home became clear. Thanks to my wife Klarissa’s efforts, we secured a location at 228 S Broadway in August 2024, where we now proudly offer classes four days a week.

At Maricle Martial Arts, our mission is to deliver high-quality instruction, remain active in our communities, and foster leadership, confidence, and a family-friendly environment. We challenge our students to push beyond their limits and discover that with dedication, the impossible becomes possible.
